New Plan, or Out West, Out West, I Think it's Really Best! (sung to, Hi-ho Hi-ho, it's off to work I go)
This is Robby posting:
I think that it is the concensus that we are scrapping this idea (not officially, in case they say yes [?!?])! On the bright side we (Amanda and I) have agreed that we shgould switch our efforts from up north to out west and from this summer to next.
I subtily pumped Grandma for information on where she went out west when she was just a little older than Amanda and she gave me the itinerary that she used. Here it is. We can't afford to go to all of these stops, so if you all could pick your top 5-7 that you would rather go to.
They left from Brant Lake late at night so it was past Syracuse when the sun came up.
From there they went to Niagra Falls
Then Detroit and saw Greenfield Villiage (see plymoth plantation and sterbridge)
then to Chicago where they saw a radio quiz show.
then to Hannibal, MO where Mark Twain lived
and Lincoln, NE for Sabbath at Union College.
they drove past Boys Town
and then on to Cody, WY
By the time time they got to Yellowstone Natn'l park they saw old faithful and bears that come right up to the cars.
Then to Mt. Rushmore
Salt Lake City, Utah
and through a Desert to California.
When they were in California they went to Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon and Death Valley.
On a different trip west they stopped at Pike's Peak and the Will Roger's Shrine.
Just a side note: The World's Largest Ball of Twine is in Cawker, Kansas.
We also might want to go to the Garden of the Gods... (that's where they have the rock in the shape of the wolf from Grandpa's cartoon)
We thought that it would be fun to invite the parents and grandparents and everything as long as they all pay their own way (except Grandma and Grandpa [I kinda doubt that they will want to go, but I don't want to make money an issue]). We also thought that it would be fun to make it like a scavenger hunt kind of thing for them to try and figure out where they're going next. we give them a sealed envelope with a quiz or something like that. Anyways... Comments needed!

One and all.
One and all. Help requested. Nay, NEEDED.
As witnessed by the previous post, the parents are not on board. I emailed my mom (Aunt Diane), and she isn't as supportive of the idea as previously thought. Entonces! The question that now lays before is: do we still want to try and make this happen, or perhaps try for the following summer or perhaps just give up altogether?
If we do still want to make this happen for THIS summer, we need ideas on how to salvage this.
This is your Ultimatum, folks! We need help from EVERYONE in order to make this happen, either now or the following summer. Thank you.

How to ask The Parents
The time is upon us that we must lay it all down on the line for this great cause of travel. We must risk our lives and our plans for this great cause which is summer vacation. How are we going to get permission? When do we ask them? How? Any and all imput would be greatly, greatly appreciated. More than appreciated. Required. Anything you can think is needed. Thank you.
