Cost.

Ok guys. I've been working on cost for this trip... to see if it's really doable. Here's what I have so far:

3 nights in hotel, Union Springs, NY - $73/night X 3 = $219 (Days Inn)

4 nights in hotel, Freeport, ME - $95/night X 4 = $380 (Hampton Inn)

Gas for trip - $145 (According to Mapquest)

$219 + $380 + $145 = $744 (total) / 4 (people) = $186 per person.

This does not include other costs like food along the way, sight seeing, and spending money for any shopping we want to do.

Also, Kristina, for you and I it will be a little bit more as we need gas money for getting down to TN and back (It'll be about $37.50 extra for each of us).

So now... any other ideas as to costs we should include? Any ideas for cutting costs? Please, help me out here...

1. Do we still want to do it?

2. How can we cut costs? Please, help me shop around for hotels and other expenses! Post links and ideas here.

Thanks!

ROBBY COMMENTED: I think the obvious way to do it is to spend less time in the Hotels...

We should jsut stay a day in Union Springs and the smae in Freeport... There's not that much we need to do and we could do it in two days (get there, go to the hotel, sight see, sleep, wake up, check out, and sight see some more)

That should cut several hundred dollars off our price...

AMANDA COMMENTED: Ok. By cutting each hotel stay down to only one night, the cost per person is about $75-80. How's that? But! We haven't yet factored in food and other miscellaneous things. But still. Much cheaper. Food shouldn't be too bad. Wadya think?
